The failure mode nobody advertises
Every AI product has a moment where the data it needs isn't there — a key not set up, a service down, an account not connected. What it does in that moment tells you more about the product than the demo does. The common behavior is the worst one: the model shrugs and produces something plausible anyway, and you can't tell the difference.
The rule in CreatorBase
A disabled connector is a named capability gap. If you ask for live X trends and the X search tool isn't set up on your account, Friday says exactly that — and continues with the sources it does have, like YouTube and Reddit, telling you the answer would be better with X enabled. It does not invent trends.
The same rule holds for your numbers. The analytics page shows metrics synced from the platforms you actually publish to, and when the sync is disconnected it keeps your existing data visible and adds nothing. The empty state says it plainly: nothing is estimated or fabricated.
Why this is worth a blog post
Because you'll hit this edge case in week one, and I'd rather you hit it knowing it's a feature. When Friday tells you it can't do something, that's the honesty rule working — and it's also the reason you can trust the answers it does give. A tool that never says "I can't" is a tool whose "I can" means nothing.
